Running through the wooded grounds of Lews Castle, the River Creed offers a quieter side of Stornoway — a stretch of moving water hemmed in by trees and grassland, just minutes from the town centre. It's long been a favourite spot for a walk, with the river cutting its way through the estate on its way to the sea.
Caught mid-flow over a natural weir, the water folds and tumbles white against a deep blue current, framed by dry winter grasses in the foreground and a bright, cloud-filled sky above. It's a scene that shows a different pace to the coastal drama elsewhere on the island — steady, constant motion through the castle woods.
Photographed on location in the Lews Castle Grounds, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland.
