Our Story

Welcome to Colours of the Hebrides. A visual celebration of our unique Hebridean landscape. Created by two brothers, Scott (photographer) and John (web developer) and their lifelong friend Andrew (photographer).

With their unique colours and raw rugged landscapes, the islands are a photographer's paradise! Is there a more beautiful place on earth? We have created coloursofthehebrides.com out of our love for our islands and desire to learn more of the places represented by the photos; the history, culture, geography and people past and present.

An ancient landscape fused with modern technology. Canva, Shopify, Claude AI, Photoshop, and Google Chrome all play their part. While the technology is changing at a frightening speed, the Hebridean landscape remains stunning, timeless and mysterious. Colours of the Hebrides is about the synthesis between the ancient and the modern! Technological advancement and a place caught in time.

While Scott's camera has focused on the islands, Andrew's images span further afield than the Hebrides. Over the years Andrew has captured fantastic photographs of Glasgow, Toronto, and New York. Three cities with strong ties historically and culturally to these islands. Cities where many islanders found themselves a part of in their quest for work and a new life. The soon to be added section of our site titled "Beyond the Hebrides" will showcase Andrew's work.

Our aim is to create a site with not only fantastic prints and merchandise but to build a library of content about the islands and the story behind the images. We will show how the modern and ancient meet with behind the scenes glimpses of the creative process to build an online shop that can ship products anywhere in the world in just a matter of days!
