Scattered across the moors of the Outer Hebrides, àirighean (sheilings) like this one are a quiet piece of island history. Families would once leave their villages each summer, taking their sheep out to graze on the moorland grazings and spending the season working the peats — cutting, drying, and gathering fuel for the year ahead. This little shelter, weathered green with its red door standing out against the grass, is a survivor of that tradition.

Photographed as the sky broke into colour at sunset, the clouds catch fire in soft pink and gold above the hut, while the moor below settles into shadow. It's a moment of stillness on the machair — the kind of light that only lasts a few minutes, over a building that's stood through decades of Hebridean summers.

Printed on our Master's Edition archival paper, in off-white and uncoated, for a museum-quality finish that holds the full range of this sky's colour and the texture of the moorland grass:

  • Paper Finishing: Matte, uncoated, natural white (off-white).
  • Acid-Free: pH above 7 to prevent yellowing over time.
