Captured in a garden in Stornoway, this pair of blue tits were photographed going about the everyday business of nesting season — one perched watchfully on the roof edge, the other tucked into the entrance hole of a hand-painted nest box, its little flowers and scribbled details giving the scene a warm, homely backdrop. Blue tits are a familiar sight across gardens in the Outer Hebrides, their blue caps and yellow undersides bringing a flash of colour to even the greyest days.
There's a real sense of quiet activity in this shot — the birds mid-motion, caught between coming and going, framed against weathered wood and faded paint. It's a small, everyday moment that says as much about island life as any landscape does.
Photographed on location in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland.
